  • Child care fee includes milk, but if a child has allergy, bringing your own is acceptable (however, no discounts are available if you bring your own).
  • We do not offer any early or extended hours on Saturdays.
  • Children who are more than 1 year old and staying after 18:00 will need to eat dinner at the school.
  • Extended hours are not included in the contract. Therefore a temporary child care fee, charged every 15 minutes, will be invoiced at the end of the month.

On Saturdays: Please bring your own lunch and snacks.

  • Insurance fee is included in the part-time child care fee.
  • If the child stays until lunch time, we will offer a school lunch.
  • If the child stays until snack time, we will offer school snacks.
  • Child care fee includes diapers and milk, but if you prefer to bring your own that is acceptable, too (however, no discounts are available if you bring your own).
  • Children more than 1 year old and staying after 18:00 will need to eat dinner at the school.
  • The minimum hours for part-time child care is 2 hours. After that, part-time care can be arranged in 30-minute increments.
  • Please call us to make a reservation by the day before.
  • We may decline your reservation depending on the availability.
  • Please pay the fee in cash when you pick up your child.
  • To participate in special activities designated for full-time students, we will charge an extra fee. (Example: Swiming class ￥800+round trip fee ￥160)

Things to Bring

  • For all ages: Extra clothes. If a child is staying until nap time, bring 2 bath towels.
  • Newborn to 1 year old: Baby bottle. A bib. If a child is staying until lunch time, bring a smock or a food bib. Towel or hand towel to wipe the child’s mouth. Diapers. Milk. Ｇauze (if needed).
  • 2 years old: Towel or hand towel to wipe the child’s mouth. Hand towel on a string.
  • 3 years old and older: Hand towel on a string.

After School

We offer child care services to elementary school students after school. We do most of our activities in English. But even if you don't have confidence about your English ability, you don't have to worry. Our Japanese speaking staff will offer support if needed, depending on the childrens' English ability and constructiveness.


Bringing children from the schools　→　Homework　→　Daily Program　→　Dinner　→　Good-Bye

Daily activities include English lessons, calligraphy, yoga, and much more. We especially put a lot of energy and time into English education.

On weekdays, our staff goes to the students' elementary schools to pick them up. Basically, we arrange the pick up schedule school by school, so please understand that your child's pick up time is not always the time you requested. Depending on the distance and situation, we will flexibly change the time and/or the means of picking children up. Please be advised that we might be up to 30 minutes late. You can see more details in the transportation section below.

We have no service at Gakudo on Saturdays. The preschool provides child care services on Saturdays.

  • The basic service time in the vacation period is from 8:00 to 18:00. The service extension from 18:00-20:00 is available with an additional fee. The additional fee includes 2 hours of childcare (18:00-20:00) and dinner.
  • In the vacation period, we cannot pick up children from Wakuwaku-Plaza. We sometimes go out for outdoor activities. Please come to the school by 9:30.
  • If you need the extended childcare service and/or dinner on non-school days or fall vacation, an additional fee will be charged. In that case, you will receive an invoice.
  • The invoice includes the service used during the vacation period, but the amount will be evenly divided and charged twice due to our bank account deduction system.
  • We show the calculation report in advance when the monthly fee includes services in the vacation period. Please make sure your account has enough balance for the payment to prepare for the automatic deduction.
  • We may change the fee due to law of taxation.
  • Extension fee is ￥1,200 per hour. (It can be arranged in 15-minute increments for children with monthly care, 30-minute increments for ones with temporary care.)
  • When you finish school before lunch time like graduation or opening ceremony days, and if you eat lunch at Gakudo, you can stay at Gakudo until 18:00. If you eat at school and come to Gakudo, we will pick up children at 13:30 and they can stay until 20:00.
  • Parents are in charge of picking up your children from the school or Gakudo in case of emergency. Please come for your children immediately. Gakudo will be closed in case of a disaster or emergency, if it is before children come to Gakudo.
  • We can keep your spot with payment of ￥5,250 per month if you cannot come to Gakudo for a specified period.

Daily programs and Events

Gakudo is a great to play with friends and learn English together. We have a lot of seasonal events. We enjoy celebrating Halloween, pounding mochi, and writing monthly birthday cards for other students. We have a designated reading time, where children can improve their concentration skills. We also listen to classical music during dinner. It's important for the children to understand the switch between quiet time and active time.

Children help prepare dinner and clean-up after dinner by themselves in order to promote independence.

Wednesday Dance day! Professional dance instructor teaches Hula and Tahitian dance.

Transportation

Elementary Schools to Gakudo

Nakahara Elementary School, Miyauchi Elementary School, Tamagawa Elementary School, others. Please ask us.

  • On weekdays, our staff goes to the students' elementary schools to pick them up.
  • On non-school days, please come to Gakudo directly at 9:00am. If you'd like to come before 9:00am, you can go to the preschool from 8:00am. At 9:00am our staff will take you to the Gakudo facility.

Gakudo to Childrens' Homes

  • The bus leaves Gakudo at 18：30 and/or 19:50 (changeable, please ask our staff).
  • If you need to leave early, please call us first and come pick up your child.
  • If you live in a condominium or apartment, we will drop your children off at the entrance of the building. If you live in a house, we will drop your children off at your door. Please be at the appropriate place to pick up your child when the bus arrives. However, depending on traffic rules or street size, we may ask you to meet us at another convenient location. We can take children straight to your door for double the transportation price. For instance, if your children are coming twice a week, the monthly transportation fee will be ￥2,000＋￥2,000＝￥4,000/month.

Attention: In case of rearranging your drop off time and/or place, please let us know one day in advance. Last minute changes will NOT be accepted.

Payment

  • Tuition must be paid in advance.
  • If other fees occur throughout the month, we ask that you pay those fees the following month.
  • Please fill out the automatic deduction form. Until the automatic deduction paperwork for your Yucho Bank account has gone through, we ask that you wire us your tuition.
  • In case of late payment, you will be charged our temporary childcare fee. We also reserve the right to ask you not to come to Gakudo.

The registration fee and tuition for the first month must be paid by the first day of Gakudo. Following month's payments must be completed by the 25th of the previous month.

Intersession (afterschool)

We offer child care services to elementary school students during their summer, Winter, Spring break. We do most of our activities in English. But even if your child does not have confidence in his/her English ability, he/she does not have to worry. We aim to improve students' English by having them learn widely-used words and play with them.

We have no service on Saturdays.

  • If your child will stay after regular hours and need dinner to be provided, we will provide dinner instead of lunch. In that case, please bring lunch on your own.
  • Extension fee is ￥1,000 per hour. (It can be arranged in 15-minute increments for children with monthly care, 30-minute increments for ones with temporary care.)
  • For plan ①, we can no longer accept flexible days for monthly care. Please decide what days of the week your child will come as a fixed schedule, and if you need additional days, the fee for those days will be at the temporary care rate. Please understand that, for your convinience, we make this system to establish a fixed transportation schedule on each day.
  • Parents are in charge of picking up your children from the school or Gakudo in case of emergency. （In case of emergency, the evacuation place for this area is Nakahara Junior High School and the large evacuation area is Tama-river side.）Please come for your children immediately. Gakudo will be closed in case of a disaster or emergency, if it is before children come to Gakudo.
  • If it is not during our office hours or you cannot reach the gakudo staff, please call Child-Land Preschool at 044-944-6210.

Discount

  • If a student's sibling joins us, we offer a 10% discount for the sibling.

Shuttle Service

From Elementary School to Gakudo

  • Please come to Gakudo at 9:00am or come to Smiley Kids (nursery school) between 8:00 and 9:00am. At 9:00am our staff will take you to the Gakudo facility.

From Gakudo to Students' Home

  • We depart around at 18：30 or 19：50 at gakudo. （Subject to change. Please contact us for details.）
  • Please contact us and pick up your child if you want your child to come home earlier than the time above.
  • If you live in a condominium or apartment, we will drop your children off at the entrance of the building. If you live in a house, we will drop your children off at your door. We can take children straight to your door for double the transportation price. For example, if your child is coming twice a week, the monthly transportation fee will be ￥2,000＋￥2,000＝￥4,000/month.

Caution: Please let us know by the day before if you would like to change the pick up time and location. We cannot make any changes after that.
